Dear Parents and Carers,
I start the newsletter this week with some exciting sporting news. Last week, we had 3 children run in the semi-finals of the Cross-Country event and all 3 of these have qualified for the final which is taking place on Monday. William and Sam will be representing Mabe school in the Y6 boys race and Layla will be our representative in the Y5 girls race. We wish them all every success in this final race and I will update you on their achievements in the newsletter next week. To reach the finals is a massive achievement in itself and we are all very proud of you.
On Wednesday it is our PTA Bunny Drive which is £1.00 per entry. This will be a fantastic family event and we are looking forward to seeing many of you there. Our PTA have done an amazing job over the last few years raising money which we are now exploring ways of spending to benefit the children in the school. We are currently exploring the costs and options for updating our playground markings and games – once we have some firm plans I will, of course, share these with you.
It seems unbelievable that we are now almost at the end of the spring term. The last day of this term is Thursday 28th March and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Tuesday 16th April. I hope we all get to enjoy a bit of sunshine over this break – we have certainly seen enough rain over the last few months!
Finally, I want to take this opportunity to thank our governors who have been into school and monitored the progress the school has made in many areas over the spring term. It is always a pleasure to welcome our governors into school and showcase the work being undertaken at school and the progress being made. Over the spring term, governors have monitored reading, writing and maths teaching and standards. They have monitored children’s attitudes to their learning and behaviour in the classrooms and outside at breaktimes. The governors have also met with the school council and discussed a range of topics from online safety to protected characteristics. The governors undertake their roles as volunteers and we are very grateful for the time they devote to Mabe school.
Looking forward to seeing you at the bunny drive on Wednesday.
With my best wishes
Mrs Stevens

Also, the school is a smoke and vape free zone. Thank you for your support with this.
