Message from the Head
Today, we have taken part in a whole school rowing challenge to see how far we can row from Falmouth! We will update you with our travel next week. During the challenge, children tracked their heart rate using oximeters and then timed how long it took their heart rate to slow back down.
Thank you so much to those that have sent in videos for the home science competition. The deadline for this is Monday the 18th of March should anyone still wish to enter. The videos are amazing!
Wishing you a lovely weekend,
Mrs Stevens
Dear Parents and Carers,
Today, we have been recognising the work of the charity Comic Relief. In assembly, we focused on the work of this charity since its conception in 1985. Comic Relief was established to support alleviating poverty’s consequences and grip on people’s daily lives. The charity funds programmes that help people and communities overcome the many challenges they face. Tackling the injustices that keep people in poverty, the charity supports organisations and movements that strive for fairness and equity. Thank you for the donations you sent in today as this will all go to support the important work of Comic Relief.
Also, throughout this week we have been celebrating all things Science as part of National Science Week. We have a lot of super scientists at our school! The children took part in a whole school ‘How far can you stretch the Curly Wurly?’ challenge and had great fun! Would you believe that through applying their science knowledge, some groups were able to stretch their curly wurly beyond 2 metres without it breaking?!
Throughout the week, many children entered the British Science Week poster competition and created some amazing posters linked to the theme of ‘Time’. In years 1 – 6, we also voted for our new Science Ambassadors, which have been officially announced and the children have been presented with their badges at a special science themed assembly today. Year 3 went on a very exciting trip to Camborne School of Mines to enrich their study of rocks and soils. Year 5 and 6 have had an augmented reality welding experience. Reception, Nursery and Year 4 have been visiting by a Masters Student from the University of Exeter who told the children about the importance of wasps in our ecosystem. Year 1 have been busy learning about their senses in forest school and Year 2 have completed an exciting experiment involving skittles and rainbows! What a busy week! Thanks to Mr Cruse for all his organising of the week.
