Message from the Head
Then on Friday, it is Comic Relief, and we will spend some time explaining to the children why this was established and the type of causes it continues to support. At Mabe, we are asking the children to wear their school uniform which can then be accessorised with something red for a small donation – this could be red socks, a red hairband, a red tie, a red ribbon, etc.
With my very best wishes
Mrs Stevens
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a varied week we have enjoyed at Mabe this week!
Our Year 4 Puffins class were super ambassadors for our school when they represented us on Tuesday in the St Piran’s Day parade. They were enthusiastic, polite and quick to follow all instructions throughout each part of the celebrations. Each school performed something Cornish when the parade gathered in King Charles Church and Puffins class performed a brilliant rendition of ‘The Song of the Western Men’ (Trelawney) accompanied by Mr Ford playing the guitar. It was wonderful to hear that an organiser of the event noticed the exemplary behaviour and attitudes of our children and went to tell Mr Ford this. Well done to our Year 4 class – we are all very proud of you.
Yesterday, we enjoyed celebrating World Book Day where children had the opportunity to discuss their favourite books, name different authors and explore poetry and poets. It was fantastic to see all the words used to inspire their dress up, and we had good fun trying to guess the specific vocabulary word chosen. The book swap was a big success and I hope that the children enjoy the different book that they have brought home. Over the last couple of weeks, we have carried out a reading audit with children from across the school. The information from this helps us to know how successful our planned reading curriculum is in developing children’s lifelong reading habits, their understanding of the written word and what authors and poets they know. We were really pleased by the depth of knowledge and enthusiasm for reading the children showed when discussing their reading habits.
Looking ahead to next week, we have the drop-in Autism café being held here at Mabe school on Tuesday morning after drop off until 10:30am. There is no need for your child to have a diagnosis of Autism or to even be on the pathway, if you feel that you have questions or would like to discuss some strategies to support your child, please do take up this networking opportunity.
