Message from the Head
We are so delighted to announce the safe arrival of Mrs Rayments beautiful baby girl!
Bryony Eleanor was born on Thursday 29th February weighing 7lb 8oz, a special leap year baby!
Sending lots of love and congratulations from everyone at Mabe School Community.
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we welcomed our Chair of Governors, Mark Lees, into school where we focused on the teaching of Reading and Writing across each class. Mark was impressed with the standards of writing being achieved by our children, and how the same high standards for writing are in place across all curricular subjects. We have worked hard on developing our writing curriculum over this year to ensure that it links to wider curriculum topics, and we are really pleased to see our efforts in this area paying off with the children’s progress in writing now becoming evident. On Wednesday, our teachers met with other year group teachers from our Kernow Learning local Cluster (Mabe, St Francis, Falmouth Primary and King Charles) to look at standards of writing across our four schools – this helps to ensure that our assessments of writing are accurate and we are able to learn from each other and share best practice. Making the most of these partnerships within our Trust help to further develop and shape our curriculum offer.
Next week, as part of our World Book day celebrations we are going to have a specific focus on poetry and poets, and each class is going to learn a poem which they will then ‘perform’ to another class. Poetry is such a great way of developing vocabulary and the next step in our reading curriculum here is to map out a poetry spine to widen our children’s knowledge of this genre. It would be fabulous if you could support this at home with your children by reading a poem together once a week.
Following on from sharing your child’s annual report with you last week, if there is any area of your child’s learning that you would like to support with at home, please do get in contact with us at school and we will be able to signpost you to valuable home, school learning opportunities to reinforce learning at home. As I’ve shared before, one of the most valuable things you can do at home is read, read and read together.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Stevens

Family Café – Tuesday 12th March
Come along and meet with the Autism Team and other parents at our Family Café. This will take place at Mabe primary school on Tuesday 12th March from 9:00am – 10:30am.
